Corded or cordless?
As with all semi-large decisions, there are some pros and cons to corded or cordless vacuum cleaners. Corded devices tend to last longer (almost two decades if they are looked after well), while cordless devices can last for around 10 years.
On the other hand, corded device users find themselves needing to plug in the electricity after almost every room to avoid getting in a tangle or running out of cord. With cordless, you are as free to roam as an eagle in the mountaintops, and able to clean your home in any order you see fit without the restrictions of a cable following you around.
Prioritize your essential features and points of compromise
Even when you shop at the top end of the market, you will likely need to make some compromises with your hoover acquisition. This is because the styles vary so much that there is no ‘one size fits all’ solution. The good news is there are generally all options available at a Dyson vacuum sale.
Think carefully about your home and the surfaces you will need to clean regularly. If you have primarily hardwood or other ‘vacuum friendly’ surfaces, you may be able to compromise some suction power for portability or price. Depending how open plan or otherwise your space is, you could also benefit from some handy attachments to fit into smaller corners as you clean.
Conversely, if you have a lot of thick carpets or rugs, suction power is likely to be one of your main considerations. You will need to cover large areas of tricky terrain for vacuums, so it may be best to opt for one of the more powerful upright models.
The low down
Trying out Cable-free vacuums isn’t as tough as trying out robot vacuums, however there’s still room for us consumers to do our due diligence. I try out vacuums on three types of floor surfaces: hardwood, low-pile carpet, and mid-pile carpet.
Look for professionals that try out vacuums according to the International Electrotechnical Commission guidelines (IEC for short). The IEC does international rules responsible for watching vacuum trials for vacuum companies. First, let’s start with the Dyson V8 Absolute Hand vacuum. This cable-free model isn’t the newest mind you, but it still has strong suction, and its results are great. On the flooring tests, only the Dyson V11 and Shark Rocket Pet Pro performed better than the Dyson V8 did.
Pet hair doesn’t bother the V8 either. It’s able to pull hair away from mid-pile and low-pile flooring straight away. Caution to the wise though, it does have a rather tough time removing dander on hardwood type floors.
Still, thank goodness one of the Dyson V8’s feature is a washable filter. Also, similar to the V11 Torque Drive, the V8 Absolute vacuum has cleaning accessories galore. Such as tools for dusting, a crevice tool for reaching into tight spots, a soft cleaning tip for bare floors, a motor brush roll for grabbing stuff that’s been smudged into the carpet, and it’s own charging station when it’s needs to recharge.
The V8 absolute is certainly a worthwhile investment. However, let’s not forget what else I found for you Dyson Sale enthusiasts.
The Dyson V10:
What I like about the Dyson V10 is compartment space for dust and great energy technology. Allow me to elaborate here.
The compartment space to hold dust on the V10 is amazing. Most cable-free vacuums are limited when it comes to compartment space, however V10 is the competition against cable vacuums in this regard. The V10’s compartment space is 40% more than the closest competition to it, the V8 and the dust cup is a convenient 90s degrees for easy emptying and no mess afterwards.
Next is the next-level energy technology, also known as, Cycle Technology. There are an extraordinary 14 cycles in the V10. This means the V10 is capable of creating what I like to call oomph of more than 79,000g and its fast circulation tosses dust and foreign particles out into the bin.
